Security is personal, and local storage allows you to keep the personal – private. Lorex cameras either record directly to a recorder or to an on-board MicroSD card.

Lorex does not store or retain video footage. Your video remains yours. Only you can control who has access to it.


Reliability you can count on

Lorex uses security grade hard drives and microSD cards that are built to withstand the high demands of security monitoring. Most Lorex Recorders and Smart Home Cameras can be upgraded to larger capacity drives as well for additional storage space.


What about footage transferred for mobile viewing?

The video footage in transit to your mobile device is encrypted and not stored on the cloud. For motion notifications, you can opt-out of receiving thumbnail images.

In-Camera Edge AI


It all happens inside the camera

Lorex cameras use In-Camera Edge AI technology that provides advanced detection algorithms that can recognize different objects including cars, packages, pets, and people. All of this is contained within the camera itself and not sent to a cloud server for analysis, which means your detection data stays with you.

Opt-in/Opt-out thumbnail control

With Lorex, you can opt-in or opt-out of receiving thumbnail images attached to motion notifications through the mobile app.* These thumbnails are securely stored in our cloud for 10 minutes, while thumbnails displayed on the event list within the app are encrypted and removed after 3 days. You have the choice to opt-out of the generation and reception of these thumbnails altogether, ensuring you are in control of your images and data.

Secure Access

Your Lorex app account can be secured with Two-Factor Authentication to provide an additional layer of protection to your account. Once enabled, your account will send you a unique six-digit verification code through text message or email to verify the person accessing your account is really you.


Privacy Mode

Lorex gives you the option to immediately stop the recording of any or all cameras with the click of a button.

  • 4K (8MP) IP cameras are required to take advantage of 4K recording.
  • Recording time may vary based on recording resolution and quality, lighting conditions and movement in the scene.
  • This Fusion NVR can connect to 16 wireless devices per system. The NVR must be connected to the your Wi-Fi Router via network cable. Wireless devices require an available channel on the NVR as well as a sufficient signal strength between the device(s) and your Wi-Fi router for video streaming.   • Controlling certain features in your security system requires a compatible smart device. Availability and performance of certain features and services are smart device dependent and may not be available in all areas or networks. For compatibility, features, and instructions visit www.lorex.com/smarthome
  • Accuracy of Smart Motion Detection will be influenced by multiple factors, such as the object’s distance from the camera, the size of the object, and the height and angle of the camera. Night vision will also impact the accuracy of detection. Compatible with certain Lorex IP cameras only.

  • Accessing your security system remotely requires a high-speed Internet connection. Ensure your NVR has a wired connection to a router (not included). A minimum upload speed of 5Mbps is recommended for reasonable video performance. Up to 3 devices may connect to the system at the same time.   • HDMI output supports 4K HD for high definition multi-channel live or recorded video viewing. Image quality and resolution is dependent on the type of camera connected to the NVR, as well as TV/monitor resolution.
  • NVR has a total PoE power output of 130w. Different IP cameras have different wattage specifications. Please double check your camera specifications for power consumption (Wattage) requirements in order to not exceed the NVRs power output availability of the recorder when adding cameras. Pre-recording is available only when using Motion Detection and can be viewed exclusively during local playback. This feature is not supported for Smart Motion Detection (SMD), continuous recording, or through the Lorex Classic app or cloud services. The duration of the pre-recorded footage may vary based on the recorder available cache memory at the time the event was detected, up to a maximum time set by the user.
